GENERAL MEETING

Meeting called to order by President Debi Rodden at 2:10 PM
President Rodden introduced Robert Corrigan III from the new course management attending the meeting to discuss upcoming changes to expect in the coming months. These are to include capital improvements in the condition of the parking lot and the club house, as well as improvements on the course fairways and greens.. No change is expected in greens fees. A Senior Card is to be made available. Mr. Corrigan expressed his desire to make improvements that will facilitate play, such as removing stakes and other obstructions.
SECRETARY’S REPORT: Ruth Randle
Report was inadvertently admitted. To be presented for acceptance at March meeting
TREASURER’S REPORT: Donna DeWit
Announced cash balance of $5982.28. Donna announced that an audit had been completed by Ann Williams, results not yet available.
WEEKLY TOURNAMENTS: Barbara Denning
Announced the low net winner for January to be Sarah Nardacci, with the Low Net Tournament winner as Barbara Denning with a net 75. Barbara reminded members to continue to contribute appropriately to the water hazard piggy bank. (25cents per incident or $1.00/ month.) Whichever is lower, I guess…..
MONTHLY TOURNAMENTS: Barbara Rechlin
Announced the first monthly to be on February 15th, and will be a blind draw.
Away trip is to be on March 14th in Carlsbad. The cost is $65.00. Tee times are scheduled for 9-10 foursomes and will start at 9AM. Guests are welcome. Betty Hatcher is chairperson. Reservations and payments to be made through her.
HANDICAP/PUB LINKS: Sarah Nardacci
Announced that Peggy Bachelor won most improved honors for January.
February Pub Links will be on the 7th. Books for 2012 to be available in time for distribution at the March meeting.
The courses available for the March 8th play day were announced.
SOCAIL CHAIRPERSON: Jo Moerbeek
February birthdays announced. Range card awarded to Yvonne Rochester Voices were raised in a rousing Happy Birthday song…
OLD BUSINESS: As above re the new management and course changes.
NEW BUSINESS:
- One new member was introduced
- President Debi reported the results of the survey in that there had been numerous questions regarding the local rule of the 6” preferred lie. The recommendation from the survey having been that the rule be rescinded in order to comply with the rules of golf. Diana Boucher made a motion that the rule be rescinded, with Joyce Nagatani seconding the motion. A vivid discussion followed with members presenting opinions both for and against changing the rule. The issue is to be continued to the March meeting at which members will have the opportunity to vote by written ballot.
- Jean Barbazette announced that the Navy Invitational will be held on May 22nd.
RULES: Norma Clapp reminded members about the rule forbidding cleaning sand from the area in front of the ball. A discussion followed regarding allowable ‘cleaning up’ of the area surrounding the ball.
Raffle was held.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:55 PM.
The next monthly meeting is scheduled for March 7th.
